About Us

Chris has been an island resident for the past eighteen years. Chris worked in banking when she first came to this island. She acquired her first personal dog at that time (Lieba, a female Doberman). She later adopted Barron (an abused male Doberman). After many joyous years with Lieba and Barron, they went to heaven. At this point, Chris was employed with the Law Firm of Eugene "Dean" Laurich (nka Laurich & Wiseman, P.A.). Chris also married Chip Booth (previous Assistant Tournament Director for the Heritage Golf Tournament). She has now been married for twelve years AND COUNTING! Chip and Chris obtained three Coton de Tulear’s (Jolie, Jasmine and Jesse) from Spain, Hungary and Hungary respectively. After much sole searching, Chris decided to leave Laurich & Wiseman, P.A. to pursue her dream of working with dogs. Chris left in June of 2006 to attend a rigorous three-month dog trainers program from Triple Crown Dog Academy in Hutto, Texas. Chris can not express her gratitude to the instructors for her life altering experience. After staying an additional two months in Texas (to continue her education), Chris came home with her new demo dog Beau (an Austrian Sheppard puppy). Now Chris is looking forward to helping many dog owners in the Low Country with their Canine needs.

What our clients are saying about us.....
"We have an 8-month old
Chihuahua-Toy Poodle mix named Daisy, who is very active and eager to learn and
please. When we decided to talk to a trainer, we already felt that we
had a pretty good dog and that we just had a few items that we wanted some help
with, such as coming when called and being pleasant and respectable in public.
After seeing how they interacted with Daisy and how they interacted with us
during our consultation, we knew we had chosen the right trainers. In just the
first visit, Chris gave us useful tools and training tips that we could easily
implement with our dog and into our life. We learned that it wasn’t just about
training Daisy, it was also about changing a lot of misconceptions we had about
how we should interact with Daisy. Their techniques make training fun for us as
well as Daisy. It was amazing that within just a few sessions, Daisy was
learning the things we wanted to work on and so much more.
Daisy gets so excited each time she sees Chris."

"I
have three “boys”. One of the two-legged variety
who is 16 years old and a high school sophomore. His name is Harry.
He thinks he’s the man of the house. Next is Riley. Of the
four-legged variety and coming in at just under 10 pounds, he knows he’s the
man of the house. Finally, there’s Kazoo. A young upstart and
technically just out of puppy hood, this four point nine pound fireball acts like
he’s the man of the house. Then there’s me. I cook, clean, do
laundry, work, pay bills, take care of everyone else, and this IS MY HOUSE.
Somehow,
I seemed to have lost sight of the fact that my house is MINE. I was too
busy trying to get everyone to behave to have any time to correct the negative
behaviors that were taking all the fun out of having the dogs in the first
place. The human boy was the easy one. Make the Honor Roll or you
don’t get to drive the car. Now I have an Honor Roll student. My
four-legged boys weren’t as easy. Riley barked ALL the time. He
barked when someone walked by the front of the house. He barked when I was
on the phone. He barked just to hear himself bark sometimes, or at least
that’s what I was thinking. Then there was the problem of any male
coming into the house. Riley would nip – no, bite. Embarrassing?
You bet. Kazoo…well, he’s pretty much perfect except for the fact that
the little guy doesn’t know the difference between the grass in the backyard
and the carpet in my bedroom. Riley was housebroken in two days.
Kazoo was a year old and still didn’t know the difference between Berber and
I
called Chris. I’d like to be able to say that money wasn’t
an issue. Unfortunately, I can’t. We live on a budget, and a very
tight one at that. For a very reasonable fee I got the very best for my
boys. At first, they got 10-15 minute visits every day, then every other
day, and I was charged just for the actual time spent with the dogs.
I couldn’t believe how smart they really were and how fast they learned
– especially Riley…five years old and set in his ways, or so I thought.
Riley’s barking has stopped, and Kazoo is housebroken. They both know
basic commands, and Kazoo even knows how to do a few tricks! We
integrated Harry into the training so that Riley, who is skittish by nature,
would be less afraid of Harry. The bad habits
are gone and my house is mine again!

"We recently purchased a one year old labradoodle, cute, friendly, but still very unmanageable with immature and puppyish behaviors. It's been fun for "Skipper", Jim and I to work with Chris on teaching Skipper to be a social member of our family - walking on a leash without pulling, sits and stays, no jumping, no barking, and being respectful of our other pets without rough-housing.
Chris has been very adept in not only sensing Skipper's personality and learning skills, but to adapt his training needs and the techniques used to the differences in styles and personalities of both Jim and myself, and to the operational patterns of our household in general.
Chris explains and demonstrates all techniques in great detail and answers questions or modifies them if needed. We all look forward to seeing Chris and our training sessions!
Skipper is now a social dog and happy member of our family. A "win/win" for all of us!"

"Chris has been really, really nice to
Leo, our Golden Retriever puppy, & to us. We saw new skills
& improvements in Leo after the first session & he has continued
to learn more & improve with each session. Chris asks for email updates
each night, so she knows what is working & what is not. If one
technique is not working, she will try another, until she finds what works
best for Leo. She is teaching us how to teach Leo to be the good boy he wants
to be. She is warm & loving to Leo & he is very Happy to spend time
with her. Most of the time Chris has the different collars, leashes, toys,
& treats, that she wants to try out, making it easy to see what will
work right away. She has gone out of her way to shop & bring me what she
did not have, or what I needed more of. She has been flexible & easy to
work with. Her love for animals shines through.
We cannot say enough nice things about
Chris & the great job she is doing.
Thank you, Chris!"

"Jake is our adorable, lovable 16-month-old Golden Retriever.
He was a pretty perfect young puppy, flew through obedience school and was
delightful to have with us. Then he turned into a "teenager" and
developed selective deafness. We tried every trick learned from obedience
school. Then in desperation we called Chris.
From that first visit, I knew we'd found just the
right person to teach me how to best teach Jake. Chris spent time with
him, learning his personality and how he'd best learn. We had 2 big
leaning needs. Jake's need to play with other dogs and people was much
stronger than his need to respond to us! He didn't seem to grasp that
other humans did not appreciate his jumping up to lick their nose! And he
would not come to us when called if he had something better to do.
Chris tried lots of methods and was so patient and
positive. She wouldn't give up (nor let me give up). He now can walk
the beach with no leash, comes when called, and is so much better about not
sharing his doggie kisses with everyone! We still have work to do, but now
I have the skills to help Jake be the good boy he really wants to be.
And Jake really thanks Chris for leaning the best
treats for him! He loves those chicken dogs!!
Thanks, Chris, for helping us have a healthy, happy, polite Golden!"

Chris,
Jim
and I want to thank you for all you have done to train our stubborn silky
terrier, Chauncy. We had done everything we had read in books, other
training @ PetSmart, and all we knew from our two previous silkies - all to
no avail. He has responded to your training like no other. It is
obvious that you are a more than dedicated trainer, and we really
appreciate your daily concerns for Chauncy's training improvement. Thanks

"I am very happy with the training Wally
and Willy have received. I think your love of dogs is evident to anyone who
watches you with them, and the dogs seem to feel it, too. Your interest and
involvement go beyond what most other trainers would do. My dogs are responding,
and I'm hopeful that sometime in the not too distant future they'll be
well-behaved, canine citizens.

"We are very happy that we found Chris to
train my mother’s dog, Max. Max was aggressive toward strangers and
especially toward other dogs. Walking him on a leash was a chore because
he pulled so hard. My mother is 87 years old and visually impaired.
Max is a wonderful companion for her, but was a handful. Our vet
recommended that we call Chris and we’re glad we did. Max is much calmer
now; he doesn’t scare people who come to visit and it’s much easier to walk
him on a leash. He is still aggressive toward other dogs on occasion, but
not as often and his reaction is much more subdued. Chris is continuing to
work with him and we expect that in a few more sessions she can help him
completely overcome any aggressive behavior.
Chris is a kind and effective trainer. Max loves her and we feel like she’s a friend. Her prices are very reasonable and she is flexible and accommodating when scheduling visits. We enjoy working with Chris to train our little mutt. She has made a major difference in his manners."

"Your training skills have
resulted in my being able to take Katie (13
month old Weimaraner)
for a two and half mile run on the
beach every morning. She is totally free and under voice command and loves
every minute of her run. She will “stay by me” whenever a runner approaches
or a dog comes to say hello and will not leave my side. She has the
freedom to roam the dunes or walk the water’s edge, but when I call
“Katie”, she comes running to me. We do this walk in 45 minutes.
None of this would have been possible without you, a professional trainer.
Firmly yet lovingly, you trained her through reward and not punishment and
you never hurried the process.
I learned so much from
you, Chris, and because of your special talent, Katie and I can enjoy our

names as Zack and Lexie Pattison. We

our parents got us when we were 11 months old.
They fell in love with us immediately.
Therefore, allowing us to run wild until we met Miss Chris.
She loved us immediately too, but taught us to calm down and enjoy life
more. In just 2 weeks,
we learned more than Miss Chris and our parents ever expected.
We
learned sit, down, come, place and walking beside our parents on our leashes.
It is so much fun to walk beside our parents instead of pulling them all
over the place. Thanks Miss Chris.

“I
wanted you to know how pleased and impressed I am with your training of my pups
(and me). You gave me the tools to raise two delightful pups. The
tools enabled me to reinforce the training after you were finished. The
bell ringing for potties is a great addition to the housebreaking. Both of
the pups use it with regularity and it alerts me when I’m in another part of
the house. Your off leash training gave me the courage to take them out
and I can’t tell you how much fun it is for them and for me!
You
were always available to come and help with relapses and you were just an e-mail
or phone call away when I needed you. Thank you for showing me how to have
such happy and well trained pups. All of my friends tell me how well
behaved they are. I look forward to coming home to them every day.
Because
of your agility training I just purchased an agility starter set and when the

“When
I adopted Abby (a petite beagle) back in November, I was told she was trained in
the basic commands, but she was not. I immediately asked around about a good dog
trainer on the island and Chris's name came up several times and she came highly
recommended. Chris was able to return my call and set up an initial consult in a
matter of days. She also provided me with a plethora of literature on training
to help me decide what I wanted to focus on. I told her I had tried and tried
but could not get Abby to 'sit' on command. Within a few minutes of our first
session, Chris had Abby sitting - and Abby couldn't sit enough. She helped me to
understand how a dog thinks and understand why certain methods work and certain
methods don't. Not only was my puppy getting an education but I was as well.
Over several months, Chris helped Abby and I to bond through basic obedience.
Beagles are known for straying to follow a scent but with Chris's training, I
was able to take Abby on the beach and on hikes without a leash and get
her to come back to me whenever I called. Chris also introduced Abby and I to
agility training, which my little pup loves. My only regret is that we had to
move away - otherwise we'd still be working with Chris. Chris clearly loves
dogs and is very knowledgeable when it comes to training. Thanks to her tips and
willingness to educate owners, I've been able to help other friends with small
obedience issues. Finally, Chris's prices are very reasonable and she works very
hard to get the results you're looking for. She cares about you as a person, and
your special relationship with your dog, not just as clients which is rare
in this day and age. I would absolutely recommend Chris and Red-Beau to anyone
looking to understand their dog better, and improve that special bond through
obedience training.”

“All
I can say is Sadie adores you. You have a natural way with dogs and they
completely respond to you. You are happy and loving and at the same time
matter of fact and your expectations seem clear to the doggies.
Sadie
is doing well at the beach and on our walks. The only problems I am having
is when there are so many dogs and I call her and she is just overwhelmed.
I see her looking around for me with kind of a frantic look in her eyes but
there are just too many distractions or confusion and she doesn't always respond
to the correction. I think she actually does better in most situations off
leash. She is happy and can explore and we can enjoy her freedom. Is
there a holster type thing for the remote? I would be interested in
purchasing one if there is. There are just too many things to hold at the
beach.
Our
experience with you has been just great and we would recommend you highly.
Thanks for everything.”

“My
female golden retriever Scout--a rescue with her own personal history-- is
a feisty 4-year old who loves to chase anything that moves. As such she is
a handful walking along our beach road at Haig Point where deer and bunnies
can dart without warning from the marsh grass right in front of us. Chris
worked with us on this problem convincing me that Scout could be trained to walk
properly without my arm being torn out of the socket. Now when walking I
try to spot the wildlife before Scout and tell her to "Good walk, good
walk, good Scout". She may huff and puff but does stay by my side.
She has really become a much better behaved dog and is still a sweetie with
a great spirit.”

“We
adopted Miles from Hilton Head Humane Association when he was 8 weeks old. When
he started getting old enough and we tried training him on a leash I found out I
had a very smart and head strong dog who wanted to walk himself and eat his
leash. We called Chris and with in weeks he was walking very well on a leash,
staying with us, sitting and laying down. Miles loved her. She taught us how to
have a behaved, happy dog that we could take places with us. Her belief that you
want your dog to do things because he wants to do them for you rather then
because he was scared let me know she was my “ dog whisperer” .
I have actually had people stop and ask me how I make my dog come back to
me when I call him. Simple Chris
Booth. Miles being the head strong dog he was had to be good at recalls and with
Chris’s help he has really mastered that.
Even in his teenage years right now he still wants to learn. I can’t
thank Chris enough for everything she has done for us and Miles even keeping him
for us when we go out of town and letting Trooper help with Miles on occasions.
It is nice to know that Miles, a very important member of our family, can
go out with us, travel with us and be a happy dog.”

responded to her every command. Due

for your expertise, patience and all the constructive suggestions you
provided while training Rudy. He is doing so well with sit, down,

occupying his time have worked out nicely. It is great being
able to modify his behavior in a positive way. Rudy loves the games
you taught us that reinforce the commands he's learned. You made training
fun for all of us.
We've had him with us many times at out door eateries and he is well
behaved. You'd be very proud of him. He is still very
much a pup, but thanks to you, he's a real charmer. Everyone falls in love

there - yes, they fight, but they snuggle and play together also.

with Chris and the dogs, both ours and hers, she is extremely knowledgeable
about the behavior of dogs and how to modify their behavior in the direction
that you prefer. My husband and I were both "nervous" about the "growly"

helping us gain our confidence to handle such behavior. In addition, she is
very fair with her business practices, fair with her pricing (evaluates your

and a person that I have recommended to any of my friends that were having

"My wife and I have two Boston Terriers (Katie and Tucker). We have had Katie since she was six weeks old, and she is now four. Tucker, our male, is now six and joined our family about one and a half years ago after the death of my brother. Tucker was initially very territorial, unpredictable and sometimes aggressive with strangers and even with us at times. We primarily contacted Chris at Red-Beau to assist us in dealing with Tucker. She first came to our home to meet Katie and Tucker and informed us that Tucker was potentially able to harm others and need to be taught that he is not the "boss" in spite of his sense of loss. Chris confronted Tucker , even taking away from him some of is favorite toys to inform him that she, not he, was now the boss. She also worked with Katie who is generally much more docile anyway. We happily saw some positive changes even after their first full session! We engaged Chris for a total of five sessions during which she taught both dogs to respond to simple commands and to practice commands like "Place." As a result of these sessions, the behavior of both our dogs has improved tremendously. Many of our friends and neighbors have commented on the "new Tucker" that they are now pleased to visit! We are very pleased with Chris Booth's techniques and highly recommend her services to anyone whose dogs demonstrate behavioral issues."
